DENR Secretary Gina Lopez shared on her official Facebook Page the operations conducted by DENR and other government agencies as they were were able to penetrate the 5-hectare operations of Cervantes inside a government property.

Undersecretary Art Valdez and the DENR Team in cooperation with the NBI and the AFP conducted the operations and arrests of Raphael Cervantes and his men for killing mangroves in an attempt to build a subdivision.

Once proven by court as guilty, the alleged crimes committed by Cervantes will cost him life in prison for robbing the government and the environment billions in pesos.

The DENR team removed the installed fences and other structures found within the perimeter including at least 100 houses.

Here's the Complete Report of DENR Sec. Gina Lopez:

Palawan!!! Reporting from this morning, our DENR team was able to penetrate Raphael Cervantes' 5-hectare operations inside a mangrove reserve in Puerto Princesa that's GOVERNMENT PROPERTY!

With the NBI and AFP Western Command under Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario, Usec Art has arrested Cervantes and his men for killing mangroves in an attempt to build a subdivision(?!!) of which proven guilty will cost him life in prison for robbing the government and the environment billions in pesos! Our team has removed installed fences and other structures found within the perimeter including at least 100 houses.

Calling out PNP provincial director Ruben Sarmiento for resisting our operations and coddling Cervantes and his group! Super mega thanks to PH Marines 1st Lt. Edgar Ardamoy and 1st Lt. Jef Tiburcio. We found corpses of mangroves and corals piled up as a foundation for the subdivision they were building! This is unacceptable!!
