The Chinese government will finance the construction of the highly anticipated Bohol-Cebu Friendship Bridge according to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) after Chinese investors endorsed for funding the said project in support of the Duterte administration.
NEDA Regional Head Efren Carreon stated that the Bohol-Cebu Friendship Bridge is up for feasibility study and the proposal is for China funding.
The NEDA Board which is also headed by Pres. Rody Duterte recently expressed its approval on the project which had been lined up for feasibility study and pre-engineering work eyed to start next year once the proposal is approved.

In an earlier reports, the study of the Bohol-Cebu Friendship Bridge would identify whether the government would implement the project through build-operate-transfer (BOT), through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) or through concession loans.
The highly anticipated Bohol-Cebu Friendship Bridge will link the town of Getafe in Bohol and Cordova town on Mactan Island in Cebu. It is part of the "One Visayas Interconnectivity" long-term vision.
Once the Bohol-Cebu Friendship Bridge will be constructed during the administration of Pres. Rody Duterte, the island of Cebu will be accessible to Negros island, Guimaras and Iloilo with the proposed Cebu-Negros-Iloilo Bridge which was already approved by Pres. Rody Duterte as one his administration's major infrastructure project.
Aside from the Bohol-Cebu Bridge, the Duterte administration will also construct an LRT in Cebu City and a monorail project in Metro Cebu. NEDA also approved the P9.2-billion Cebu International Container Port which is expected to be implemented in the third quarter of next year.
